Raoni ARRAES

PhD Project: The Métier of the Photographer. Digital Ethnography and Artistic Experience of Photographers in Belém (Pará), Brasil

Mr. Raoni Lourenço Arraes studied Anthropology and Social Sciences at the Federal University of Pará, Brazil. He holds a Master degree in Communication Sciences from the Federal University of Pará (Post-Graduate Program ‘Communication, Culture and Amazon’). He is currently enrolled in the PhD degree program in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Coimbra. His project focuses on photographers and the social life of digital photography in Belém, the capital city of Pará, in the lower Amazon region. He is a photographer and won the top award of the 2020 photography contest “N’Um Olhar Antropológico” organised by the School of Social and Political Sciences (Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas) of the University of Lisbon.

Bruna COELHO

Master’s Project: Public Bathrooms in the Feminine: Analysis of the International Movement for the Adoption of Gender Directives in Public Bathrooms

Ms. Coelho holds a BA degree in Anthropology from the University of Coimbra and is currently enrolled in the Master’s degree program in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Coimbra. She is a collaborating member of the Centre for Research in Anthropology (CRIA), University of Coimbra, and is the founder of the Internet project Antropia. Her research project focuses on public toilets and gender, and her research interests lie at the intersection of Anthropology, Science and Technology Studies, Gender Studies, and Urbanism.

Marianne FAULSTICH

Master’s Project: An Ethnographic Analysis of Coming Out of the Evangelical Closet Stories in Brasil

Ms. Faulstich Fernandes has a law degree and a post-graduate degree in Modern Education from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. She is currently enrolled in the Master’s degree program in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Coimbra. Her research project focuses on religious intolerance and the impact of heteronormative Christian discourses on homo-affective lives in Brazil. She is interested in gender studies, global evangelical movements, and studies of religious intolerance.

Ernst LORETO

Master’s Project: The Technological Vitalism of Leroi-Gourhan: Towards an Ethnology of the Depths

Mr. Ernst Schrijnemaekers Loreto was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1994. He studied Philosophy at the University of São Paulo, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in 2018. He started studying Anthropology during his Major, in an attempt to conciliate his passion for “abstract thought” with a latent passion for the richness and diversity of human cultures. Currently, he is a Master’s student in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Coimbra. His main hobby is literature.
